Burned, Beaded & Upcycled Bohemain Pendulum Clock

I started working on this clock around the middle of the year and I'm so excited to say that it's nearing completion! I found this pendulum wall clock in a friend's storage building while rummaging through a mound of stuff they were just going to throw out. It wasn't the prettiest thing in the world and wasn't in the best of shape, but it had great bones and tons of potential...so I thought I'd give it some good lovin' and see if I could bring it back to life. After hour and hours and hours of work, this is where I find myself with it...

The outer shell of the clock is pyrographed (wood burned) in an all original, zentangle "lace-like" design and stained in the most vibrant array of colors possible. It features leafy greens, sky blues, passionate purples, punches of pink and pops of oranges and yellows...so, basically, it's a rainbow! Did I mention that I LOVE rainbows?!

My pyrographing process tends to be a bit different. I really enjoy burning, almost blackening the wood, in most cases. Some strokes are light and some are burned deep into the wood, giving it a really nice texture which, has a sort of "carved" look and feel.

The face of the clock is equally as interesting, if not, more. It is covered in an embroidered, rainbow batik fabric with lots of beads and threads. It even features some glow in the dark thread accents that are rechargeable with direct light!

As of now, all that's left is to get the clock movements back into working order and finish the clear, frameless front door which will allow all colors and design to show through. I am planning to have it all finished up and released on Sunday, March 20, 2016 (the first day of spring) along with the rest of the Spring/Summer 2016 Line!

P.S.  ... I am new to blogging....like, brand new. This is literally my first one! I know, I know, where have I been, right?! Well, you have to start somewhere and I figured this was the best time and place. Feel free to follow, comment, etcetera etcetra...feedback is most welcome and always appreciated!
